Under Thailand’s lèse-majesté, the government can send you to jail for sharing any material offensive to the royal family. No-one (this includes foreigners) is immune to this long-standing tradition, including a 61 year old illiterate Thai man with mouth cancer sentenced to 20 years for sharing an offensive text, and a US citizen who posted links to a bio of King Bhumibol Adulyade - whilst he was in Colorado. Whilst most Thais are loyal to the royal family, one commentary suggests that ultra-royalists use this flaw in the legal system as a political tool against their opposition in light of the changing political climate.
Unlike.
